AbScent is inviting project proposals that can contribute to our charitable purposes of supporting those with smell dysfunction.
We are inviting applications from researchers who are early in their career, within five years of receiving their PhD (excluding career breaks).
The project should aim to either enhance the current knowledge of smell dysfunction or explore interventions to support improvements in quality of life for those living with the condition. Patient and Public Involvement in the research is strongly encouraged (This can include AbScent members).
We would expect the applicant to produce a report on the outcomes, generate at least one paper for peer review and to prepare a lay summary of the research to share with AbScent and its membership.
Application deadline is 16 May 2022 at 17.00 BST. We expect to inform the successful applicant by 1 August, 2022. The project should be completed by 31 August 2023.
The project proposal may be from any relevant discipline and for fundamental or applied research, and will be assessed by our multidisciplinary scientific committee and patient representatives. The application must be supported by two referees, one of which should be closely associated with the applicant's work (mentor/supervisor) and able to comment on the feasibility of the study and the other should be a senior member of the academic department or affiliated organisation.
AbScent is committed to equality, inclusivity and diversity in the application process.
Applications are treated as strictly confidential.
