AbScent wants to encourage projects that can contribute to our charitable purposes of supporting those with smell dysfunction.
This research grant invited applications from researchers who are early in their career, within five years of receiving their PhD (excluding career breaks).
AbScent's Research Committee was seeking projects to either enhance the current knowledge of smell dysfunction or explore interventions to support improvements in quality of life for those living with the condition. Patient and Public Involvement in the research was strongly encouraged, with a report on the outcomes that could be shared with AbScent and our community as well as prepared for peer review.
The Application deadline was 15 May 2021 at 17.00 BST. We expect to inform the successful applicant by 1 August, 2021. The project should be completed by 31 August 2022.
Project proposals were invited from any relevant discipline, for fundamental or applied research. Proposals will now be assessed by our multidisciplinary scientific committee and patient representatives. The application needed to be supported by two referees; one closely associated with the applicant's work (mentor/supervisor) and able to comment on the feasibility of the study, and the other a senior member of the academic department or affiliated organisation.
AbScent is committed to equality, inclusivity and diversity in the application process.
Applications are treated as strictly confidential.
