AbScent is inviting project proposals that can contribute to our charitable purposes of supporting those with smell dysfunction.
We are encouraging applications from researchers who are within five years of receiving their PhD (excluding career breaks). Matching support from the applicant’s university or institution would be an advantage.
The project should aim to either enhance the current knowledge of smell dysfunction or explore interventions to support improvements in quality of life for those living with the condition. Patient and public involvement in the research is strongly encouraged, including AbScent members where possible.
We would expect the applicant to produce a report on the outcomes, generate at least one paper for peer review and to prepare a lay summary of the research to share with AbScent and its membership.
Application deadline is 5:00 pm BST 15 May 2021. We expect to inform the successful applicant by 1 September 2021. The project should be completed by 31 March 2022.
The project proposal may be from any relevant discipline and for fundamental or applied research, and will be assessed by our multidisciplinary scientific committee and patient representatives.
AbScent is committed to equality, inclusivity and diversity in the application process.
Applications are treated as strictly confidential.
